In 2020, we faced a fun\u00adda\u00admen\u00adtal decis\u00adi\u00adon at KOMOS:
Should we buy an estab\u00adlished MES sys\u00adtem \u2013 or take a dif\u00adfe\u00adrent path?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stan\u00addard solu\u00adti\u00adons available on the mar\u00adket were pri\u00adma\u00adri\u00adly desi\u00adgned for lar\u00adge cor\u00adpo\u00adra\u00adti\u00adons: exten\u00adsi\u00adve, com\u00adplex, struc\u00adtu\u00adral\u00adly rigid, and asso\u00adcia\u00adted with invest\u00adments that were out of pro\u00adpor\u00adti\u00adon to the requi\u00adre\u00adments of a fami\u00adly-run com\u00adpa\u00adny with around 75 employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ins\u00adtead of adap\u00adting our pro\u00adces\u00adses to a sys\u00adtem that doesn\u2019t suit us, we deli\u00adbera\u00adte\u00adly cho\u00adse a dif\u00adfe\u00adrent approach. We took a clo\u00adse look at the requi\u00adre\u00adments: What exact\u00adly do we real\u00adly need? What func\u00adtions do our exis\u00adting soft\u00adware tools alre\u00ada\u00addy pro\u00advi\u00adde? And whe\u00adre do we encoun\u00adter media gaps, dupli\u00adca\u00adti\u00adon of work, or unneces\u00adsa\u00adry com\u00adple\u00adxi\u00adty?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It quick\u00adly beca\u00adme clear that our exis\u00adting ERP sys\u00adtem alre\u00ada\u00addy forms a sta\u00adble and relia\u00adble foun\u00adda\u00adti\u00adon<\/strong> for our pro\u00adces\u00adses. Ins\u00adtead of repla\u00adcing it, we have deci\u00added to con\u00adsis\u00adt\u00adent\u00adly con\u00adti\u00adnue using it and spe\u00adci\u00adfi\u00adcal\u00adly expand it. Not through ano\u00adther iso\u00adla\u00adted sys\u00adtem, but through a pro\u00adprie\u00adta\u00adry appli\u00adca\u00adti\u00adon that tar\u00adgets exact\u00adly whe\u00adre stan\u00addard solu\u00adti\u00adons reach their limits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on the\u00adse con\u00adside\u00adra\u00adti\u00adons, the KOMOS app<\/strong> It has been crea\u00adted. It com\u00adple\u00adments our ERP sys\u00adtem meaningful\u00adly, con\u00adnects exis\u00adting data sources, and makes infor\u00adma\u00adti\u00adon available whe\u00adre it is nee\u00added. Today, we use it to con\u00adtrol all manu\u00adfac\u00adtu\u00adring and admi\u00adnis\u00adtra\u00adti\u00adve pro\u00adces\u00adses \u2013 from order plan\u00adning to pro\u00adduc\u00adtion and deli\u00advery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The app was deve\u00adlo\u00adped tog\u00ade\u00adther with our employees and is con\u00adti\u00adnuous\u00adly being deve\u00adlo\u00adped. This way, a digi\u00adtal solu\u00adti\u00adon is crea\u00adted step by step that was not crea\u00adted from scratch but grew out of prac\u00adti\u00adcal expe\u00adri\u00adence \u2013 tail\u00ado\u00adred exact\u00adly to KOMOS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
