KOMOS is launching the ReEnAdd research project together with project partners in May 2025 with the aim of making production processes in plastics forming more energy- and resource-efficient and recycling rejects in the best possible way.
Project start and objectives
We are delighted to announce the official launch of our new research and development project ReEnAdd to be announced.
The project period runs from 01.05.2025 until 30.04.2027.
Subject of the project:
Increased energy efficiency & recycling through innovative additive systems
The project ReEnAdd makes it possible through targeted Material innovation and Process optimizationminimize energy consumption and the use of resources in plastics processing. These two approaches make a significant contribution to increasing the competitiveness of modern production technologies.
Three focal points of the project
1. material innovation & process optimization
The use of innovative additive systems and optimized processes reduces both energy consumption and the need for raw materials. This means that production processes can be made more efficient, more stable and more sustainable.
2. recycling and reuse
A core objective is the targeted Material clustering — i.e. the systematic grouping of compatible materials. As a result, start-up waste and rejects can be reused in a targeted manner and valuable raw materials can be kept in the production cycle. This significantly reduces the use of resources and strengthens the circular economy.
3. CO₂ footprint recording
With the Software for recording the CO₂ footprint The aim is to identify efficient and quality-assuring process parameters for the primary molding process of plastics — including the relevant peripherals — in the future.
The result: a data-based foundation for sustainable production decisions.
Significance for KOMOS and the Thuringia region
This integrated approach means that ReEnAdd not only ecological, but also technological and economic impulses for KOMOS, the industry and Thuringia as a location for innovation.
The project strengthens KOMOS’ claim to combine innovation and responsibility — for a future that conserves resources.
We would like to expressly thank the sponsors, without whose support this project would not have been possible:
“Co-financed by the European Union”
“Europe strengthens. Thuringia is growing.”
“Free State of Thuringia”
Project period: 01.05.2025 — 30.04.2027
Further information on the project will follow shortly.
