KOMOS expands production for hybrid and standard cables ✅

The requi­re­ments for cable sys­tems are beco­ming incre­asing­ly diver­se. At the same time, cus­to­mers expect short respon­se times, con­sis­tent qua­li­ty, and eco­no­mic­al solu­ti­ons even for smal­ler quan­ti­ties.

The­r­e­fo­re, KOMOS GmbH is inves­t­ing in a new modu­lar manu­fac­tu­ring solu­ti­on for the pro­ces­sing and fur­ther pro­ces­sing of hybrid and stan­dard cables. The pro­ject is sup­port­ed by the Inno­In­vest fun­ding pro­gram.

The new sys­tem com­bi­nes seve­ral manu­fac­tu­ring steps into a con­ti­nuous pro­duc­tion pro­cess. This enables the fle­xi­ble pro­duc­tion of dif­fe­rent cable types and the repro­du­ci­b­le visua­liza­ti­on of pro­ces­ses. For our cus­to­mers, this means abo­ve all grea­ter plan­ning cer­tain­ty, sta­ble qua­li­ty and the eco­no­mic­al imple­men­ta­ti­on of indi­vi­du­al requi­re­ments.

The pro­ces­sing of hybrid cables is par­ti­cu­lar­ly deman­ding, in which sen­sors, data trans­mis­si­on and power sup­p­ly are com­bi­ned into a sin­gle cable sys­tem.

The pro­duc­tion of the­se cables requi­res a pre­cise inter­play of various tech­no­lo­gies and pro­ces­ses. The new manu­fac­tu­ring solu­ti­on crea­tes the neces­sa­ry tech­ni­cal pre­re­qui­si­tes for this and enables repro­du­ci­b­le qua­li­ty throug­hout all stages of pro­duc­tion.

At the same time, we are crea­ting the tech­ni­cal pre­re­qui­si­tes for future plug-in sys­tem and adap­ter solu­ti­ons and fur­ther expan­ding our exper­ti­se in the field of cus­to­mer-spe­ci­fic con­nec­tion solu­ti­ons. By com­bi­ning sen­sor tech­no­lo­gy, data and power tech­no­lo­gy into a seam­less manu­fac­tu­ring con­cept, KOMOS is moving into a tech­no­lo­gy field for which the­re are curr­ent­ly only a few com­pa­ra­ble manu­fac­tu­ring solu­ti­ons available.

The pro­ject is fun­ded by the Free Sta­te of Thu­rin­gia and by funds from the Euro­pean Regio­nal Deve­lo­p­ment Fund (ERDF).
