Serial quality – economical even for small quantities

Precise plastic parts from injection molding

Even smaller quantities must be manufactured economically and in a reliable manner. KOMOS realizes plastic parts from prototype to pre-series production to the ongoing series – with flexible tooling concepts, reproducible quality, and short decision paths.

If necessary, we combine the injection molding process directly with metal machining, assembly, and testing – for ready-to-install components and assemblies.

Fewer interfaces: Injection molding, stamping, CNC turning, assembly and testing with a partner.

Frequently asked questions

At what quantity does injection molding pay off for small series?

Injection molding can pay off even at part size 1, especially if subsequent production is planned. Typically, we work with part sizes ranging from 100 to 10,000 parts. We optimize the tooling costs specifically for small series, so that the total cost per part remains competitive. Upon submitting a non-binding request, we will jointly review the most economical solution for your project.

How long does the development from the prototype to the series take?

The development time depends on the complexity. For simple components, we can deliver initial prototypes within 4 to 6 weeks. We typically estimate 8 to 12 weeks until the product is ready for mass production. In urgent projects, rapid prototyping also allows for shorter lead times. We work in parallel on design, tooling, and approvals to minimize time to market.

What tooling costs are involved in small-batch production?
We rely on flexible tooling concepts that are specifically optimized for small and medium-sized series. Depending on the component complexity, tooling costs range between €3,000 and €25,000. Through modular tools and intelligent cavity concepts, we keep the investment low. The tools are scalable and can be expanded to accommodate higher volumes as demand increases.
Can you also take on other manufacturing steps?
Yes, definitely! KOMOS offers a hybrid technology package: In addition to injection molding, we also offer stamping/forming, CNC turning, and complete assembly and packaging services. Additionally, we offer surface finishing, troweling, hardening, powder coating, painting, and thread cutting. This way, you receive your finished product from a single source – from development to a ready-to-ship assembly unit.
How is the quality ensured during production?
KOMOS operates according to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016. We rely on digital process monitoring in real time, statistical process control (SPC), and 100% worker self-inspection. All batches are fully traceable, and you can access production data, inspection records, and quality documents through our KOMOS app. Every part is inspected using state-of-the-art measurement technology.
Do you also manufacture for the medical technology industry?
Yes, KOMOS is certified according to ISO 13485:2016 and specializes in medical technology components. We process biocompatible materials (Medical Grade), perform validated processes, and provide complete documentation in accordance with the MDR. Our components are used in ventilation devices, diagnostic devices, medical gas supply systems, and other medical devices.
What lot sizes can you manufacture economically?
Thanks to our flexible machine park and intelligent tool concepts, we are already able to economically produce small batches of up to 100 units. However, we are also well-equipped to handle medium-sized series (1,000 to 10,000 units) and large series (>10,000 units). Through our experience with over 2,435 completed projects, we find the optimal manufacturing strategy for every batch size.
